Manotick Park Estates is located on the west side of the Rideau River just south of the village limits of Manotick on First Line Road. As a conservation development, our properties offer a beautiful quiet rural setting that is just minutes away from the Manotick village centre and about half an hours drive to downtown Ottawa.
We are surrounded by agricultural fields, a golf course and about 150 years of Rideau River history. Our 3/4 to 2 acre lots offer plenty of residential space and every property backs onto parkland or fields.
History
In the 1830s settlement of today’s village of Manotick actually took place further south up the Rideau River in the Village of Long Island Locks. At its peak in the mid-1860s Long Island Locks contained general stores, two churches and its own post office.
With the construction of a flour mill in 1864 north of the Long Island locks, a new village, Manotick (the Ojibwa name for “island in the river”) began to develop and the village of long Island Locks abruptly disappeared.
